Additionally, the Directorate conducts fuel burnup calculations to ensure the safe operation of the reactor following the loading of fresh nuclear fuel into the core. These calculations confirm that post-refueling operations remain within the safety limits defined in the reactor’s operating license.
As part of continuous safety oversight, the Directorate regularly reviews and analyzes operational data and compares it against established safety limits. This supports the continued operation of the reactor in accordance with the conditions and requirements approved by the national regulatory authority.
Furthermore, the Directorate reviews incidents, near misses, operational events, and safety-related nonconformities. Where necessary, investigations are conducted, root causes are identified, and technical feedback and recommendations are provided to management to support corrective actions and continuous improvement.
The Directorate also supports other departments by performing specialized assessments and simulations in areas such as dispersion analysis, shielding design, and activation analysis, including the calculation of induced activity levels.
