Radioisotope production facility
The Radioisotope Production Directorate is an entity accredited by the Jordan Food and Drug Administration. It has been ISO 9001:2015 certified since 2019 and adheres to ISO 2919 standards in the manufacturing of sealed radioactive sources, ensuring quality and safety in line with top international standards. Since late 2018, the Directorate has been producing and supplying radioactive iodine-131 to various hospitals and nuclear medicine centers across the Kingdom, meeting all local demands for this isotope used in the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid cancer. This is carried out under precise technical procedures including quality assurance, quality control, and type verification. In 2019, Iridium-192 was added to the production line. This isotope is widely used in non-destructive testing (NDT), and is supplied based on the needs of specialized companies.
